Rome - city along the Tiber
December 2011 / January 2012
The place I liked best about Rome was its river: the Tiber.
It runs through the city in several curves and is bedded several meters below street level. Walking along its banks I felt both right inside and yet screened from city life. What struck me about the rest of the city is that it seems to be a huge walk-in open-air museum free of charge. A morning passed at the Piazza del Popolo (Square of the People) gave me opportunity to cast a look at who happens to be there alongside me.
